Flight
The major airport closest to the venue is Liberia Costa Rica (LIR). The name may also show up as Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport. This is a 1-1.5 hour drive to Tamarindo. This is the most convenient option and we highly recommend that you fly into this airport if you only plan to attend the wedding.
The other major airport is Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). This is a 4-5 hour drive to Tamarindo. If you plan on touring other parts of central Costa Rica before/after the wedding, this may be a good option for you.
We recommend using Google Flight alerts or other websites to track and find amazing deals on tickets: Skyscanner, Going, Pomelo Travel, StudentUniverse (if you have an active school email account)!
Passport
Please make sure your passport does not expire within 3 months of your arrival date back in the US. In fact, we recommend that you have at least 6 months on your passport before it expires. Passport cards are NOT accepted. For more information on passports and visas for other nationalities, please click here.

Vaccinations
Travelers to Costa Rica are no longer required to show proof of vaccination status or a negative test result (or proof of a medical insurance policy to cover COVID-19 related illness).

If you are traveling to Costa Rica from certain countries in either South America or sub-Saharan Africa, you will be required to show proof of Yellow Fever vaccination at the airport when you enter Costa Rica. Transportation
ECOTRANS offers private airport transfers to and from Tamarindo at $100+tax each way for up to 4 people, with an additional $15 for every additional person. A larger van that can accommodate up to 16 passengers is also available for $170+tax each way. If several parties are arriving/returning on the same flight or around the same time, their team can coordinate to transport everyone together.
Once you have booked your flights, please send your itinerary to them via email (reservas@ecotranscostarica.com; please mention it’s for “Jayson & Shanell’s Wedding”).
Tamarindo Diria and other hotels also offer airport pick-up at the time of booking, which is another convenient option!
Renting a car is optional, but not necessary. Once in Tamarindo, you can either walk, rent a car/bike, or take a cab to wherever you would like to go. All hotels offer some sort of shuttle service at the front desk for just a few dollars. We have arranged a shuttle service for our guests to get to and from the wedding venue on our big day.
Stay
We have secured a room block at Tamarindo Diria Resort, Tamarindo’s largest beachside resort. We encourage all guests to book their stay at The Diria to enjoy the premium ocean front, fabulous pools, and the delicious breakfast buffet. The Diria is about a 5 minute walk on the beach to the wedding venue.
Rates
Rates include a daily buffet breakfast. This is not an all-inclusive resort, but there are several restaurants on-site at the resort. Room rates are quoted in US dollars and do not include taxes (13%). Room rates are based on single or double occupancy. Additional adult costs USD $32.00 per night. Children 0-4 years old are free. Kids 5-12 years old USD $16.00 per night. Room assignment will be subject to hotel availability. Rooms have 1 king size bed OR 2 Queen size beds. Specific bedding types are not guaranteed.
- Sunset Ocean View Rooms: $244.00 per night + tax. Max occupancy 4 people (including kids)
- Family Pool View Rooms: $186.00 per night + tax. Max occupancy 4 people (including kids)
- Tropicana (Adults Only) Pool View Rooms: $172.00 per night + tax. Max occupancy 2 people
The group rate is valid for stays between June 19th, 2024 through June 25, 2024.

Please use the hotel room block link that was attached to your Save The Date to book your stay. If you have trouble accessing the link or locating it, please reach out to Shanell or Jayson. The cut-off date to book your stay is May 5, 2024 (subject to room availability).

We have included some alternative accommodations to suit many different traveling styles! All locations are in Tamarindo or Langosta, the neighboring town, and are in close distance to the wedding venue. We don’t have any room blocks at the listed hotels so feel free to book whenever you would like. Multiple other hotel options are nearby as well. Just remember that the area is a popular traveling destination, so don’t wait too long to book!
